Somaliland: President appoints new NHRC members team

The President His Excellency Musa Bihi Abdi has appointed a new team as the members of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).

A circular issued yesterday by the Presidency for the appointment of new members of the National Human Rights Commission reads as follows:-

As per: Article 90 of the Constitution of the Republic of Somaliland;

As concerns: Human Rights Commission Act, Act No. 39/2010;

Upon receiving: Short-listed Memorandum of the Selection Committee of the Human Rights Commission;

Having considered: The Importance of the Human Rights Commission to the Building, Reputation and Development of the Nation;

I have therefore decided that;

Effective today, I nominate the following members as members of the National Human Rights Commission:

  1. Mohamed Barud Ali -Member
  2. Mohamed Hassan Aalin -Member
  3. Mustafa Ali Osman -Member
  4. Bashe Mohamud Farah- Member
  5. Mohamed Jama Ibrahim -Member
  6. Abdirahman Osman Abdulle -member
  7. Musa Jama Cigge -Member

The Presidential decree explained that the members, according to the law, were forwarded by the Selection Committee of the National Human Rights Commission, which submitted 14 members to the President such that the President may appoint the mandatory seven members only.
