Somaliland: Opposition and Madasha jointly declare they shall hold Proposed National Consultations Conference

The two official opposition parties Somaliland and the National Forum for Consultations and Rectifications have today in joint press statement have announced that they will hold the proposed national Consultations conference since the current government has declined to honor the recent deal reached by the government and opposition political organizations meant to resolve and find a solution on the outstanding issues on the timeline of the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary after the house of elders “Guurti” declined to endorse it.

In a press conference attended by top officials of the two opposition parties Somaliland and members of the National Forum for Consultations and Rectifications said they wanted to inform the public that the present has failed honor the agreement to overcome the current crisis and ensure that elections are held as soon as possible and that President Silanyo will be accountable for any consequences to follow.

Hon Abdurrahman Abdullah Mohamed “Irro”, the chairman of WADANI party speaking during the press conference said, “The country urgently needs a national consultation forum meant to save the nation and to solve the current political crisis and to announce a specific date for holding the upcoming Presidential and parliamentary election.

Mr. Hassan Gure , the chairman of the National Forum for Consultations and Rectifications said, “Come 27th , July, 2015 we shall not recognize the current government as the legitimate since its time has expired.

Since the present government has failed to honor the deal reached government and opposition political organizations we have no other alternative but to hold national consultation forum which will begin on the July 23rd to 26th of July meant to save the nation from the present political crisis.

Moments after the the joint opposition and Madasha announcement to hold national consultation forum , the government placed  the country’s security forces on high alert.
