Somaliland: State underscores the imperativeness of stepping up defense of the country and vigilance of internal security

The state has underscored the imperatives of stepping up defense of the country and vigilance of internal security, at the 116th session of the Council of Ministers which was chaired by the President H.E. Musa Bihi Abdiwho was flanked by his deputy, the VP H.E. Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismail (Saili’i).

This was spelt out in a press release from the Presidency on Thursday signed by the director of the Presidential Media service Nassir Yusuf Dahir.

The cabinet members also approved the draft Law on Pensions and Rights of Civil Servants.

They heard general briefs and information related to the security of the country from the Deputy Minister of Interior Hon.  Abdillahi Hussein Mohamed.

The members of the cabinet also had a long discussion and analysis on the country’s economy, investment, production and development of social issues.

The council analyzed the tragedies of repeated fires that affected the economy, and they agreed on the need to step up vigilance as concerns fire break-outs and the carnages they cause.

They unanimously agreed that thorough and effective investigations be made as to the cause of the Tog-wajaale market blaze in reflection to the Waheen inferno that happened in Hargeisa.

The council suggested that the government and private economic institutions accelerate the growth of the country’s economy and encourage foreign and domestic investment.

On the other hand, the draft of the amendment and supplement regulatory clauses of the Animal Husbandry Act prepared by the office of Attorney General and the Ministry of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Development was distributed to the cabinet members.

Finally, the following two points emerged from the meeting:

  1. To strengthen the National Defense from all sources, as well as pay attention to Internal Security.
  2. The Council unanimously approved the draft Law on Pensions and Rights of Civil Servants.
