The Chairman of the Somaliland Supreme Court, who is, at the same time, the Chairman of the Constitutional Court, Prof Aden Haji Ali Ahmed today once again administered the constitutional oath for the second time in less than two weeks.
In press statement released today by the Chairman of the Somaliland Supreme Court offices stated as follows:-
In reference to the chairman of Somaliland national electoral commission letter CDQ/XK/465/2015 dated 31st, Oct, 2015 calling for the filling vacant seats in the House of Representatives as stipulated in Article 51 which states “If a seat of the House of Representatives becomes vacant during any period prior to the final six months of the term of office of the House, it shall be filled as determined by law, and the new member shall serve for the remainder of the term of office.
Therefore, I do hereby declare Hon Mahmoud Ismael Hassan as today the 2nd, November, 2015 after administering the constitutional oath in accordance with Article 129 of the Somaliland constitution.
The Qorlugud seat became vacant after the previous occupier resigned after being appointed the Minister of Public works and Housing last week.
