HARGEISA – A senior UK diplomat says his government has no concerns over the recent military pact between the Government of the Republic of Somaliland and the United Arab Emirates.
UK deputy ambassador for Somalia & Somaliland, Andrew Allen said Tuesday in an interview with Horn Cable TV that his government believes that the deal is ‘one for both governments’ and is ‘not a UK issue and one that they should be involved in’.
Allen did, however, state that the agreement ‘will have an impact on others in the region and possibly beyond, because of the nature of having Emirati forces in Somaliland’.
