The chairman and presidential candidate of the ruling Kulmiye party, Mr. Muse Bihi Abdi has announced the Somaliland laws and procedures to be used for the demarcation of the boundaries of country’s different districts and regions.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony of Timacade University’s fourth batch on Tuesday, Kulmiye party leader and presidential candidate, Muse Bihi said that the demarcation of the boundaries of regions and districts will be based on the boundaries made by British colonialist before 1960,

“Nowadays there is a media spotlight on the disputed six voter registration centers in the north of Hargeisa. Today I want to make clear that according to Somaliland constitution and Regional and municipal administration law (Law No: 27), the boundaries between regions and districts are the boundaries made by British colonialist before 1960” Muse Bihi said.

Referring to the disputed areas in north of Hargeisa, Muse Bihi stated that the boundaries of the 1960 Hargeisa district and Borama district are the boundaries made by British colonialists.

“The boundaries of the 1960 Hargeisa district and Borama district are the boundaries made by British colonialists, and there will be no changes to the boundaries of these districts, therefore the communities in the disputed areas should know that the boundaries are the boundaries of the 1960 era as stated by Somaliland constitution and law No: 27” Muse Bihi added.

Finally, Kulmiye leader encouraged to the disputed parties to resolve their differences through peaceful manner.

Tensions mounted high in disputed areas for the last days, as the traditional leaders and politicians of opposing sides exchanged threats on media as their war of words intensified.
