Somaliland: President’s letter regarding the Communique which concerned Somalia’s Electoral Model for 2016.

Date:

Mogadishu behavior provocative, says the President

He urges them to withdraw statement and respect SL

The President H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Mohamud Silanyo has termed as provocative the naïve step taken by the Mogadishu government to include this country within Somalia’s “electoral structure”.

This strong public statement from the Presidency released on Thursday has been hailed widely by Somalilanders and underpins the nation’s integrity, essence and nationhood perfectly.

The Head of State further said that the move by the Mogadishu government would only undermine the SL-Somalia talks for it blatantly disregards the 19th January 2014 agreement between the two countries to refrain from such provocative utterances and action.

The President called on the Federal government of Somalia to respect SL’s sovereignty and its aspirations hence urged it to withdraw the statement.

The President’s full statement is hereunder published as follows: –
