Foreign Minister Dr. Saad Ali Shire had a fruitful meeting with the British Ambassador to Somalia and Somaliland Ms Harriet Mathews. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They both discussed about the elections and security which both government officials are concerned about.
The Foreign Minister Dr Saad Ali Shire raised a matter of pressing concern which is the drought. It has led to a damaging effect on livestock and peoples livelihoods are also affected by this. The government of Somaliland’s main export is livestock therefore affecting its economy in the process. The Minister raised this concern to remind the British government the severity of the drought.
The voting registration has recently kicked off and is going very successful. There has been no problems whatsoever it is extremely well managed at every station. The government of Somaliland urges all Somalilanders to register, this will allow its citizen to express their right to vote. The British Ambassador Harriet Mathews said “I am very impressed by how the registration process is heading towards”.
Somaliland and its neighbors face a common threat in which Somaliland is vigilant and always puts its security at the highest priority. The Republic of Somaliland is a peace loving country and is willing to cooperate with its neighbors to strengthen the security in the horn of Africa.
