H.E President Ahmed Mohamed Mahmoud Silanyo has ordered emergency relief provided to people affected by the recent storms in Sahil and other regions in the country.
Hon Zam Zam Abdi Aden, the Minister of Finance donated relief aid to the local Sahil administration to be distributed to people affected most by the recent storms in Bulhaar and adjacent areas.
At least 100 displaced families were provided with clean water, blankets, nonperishable foods, medicine and although the situation is now quiet stable people are willing to go back their homes but number of people have no place to go back due to the destruction of their houses, local Sahil administration staff, volunteers are assessing the situation with the collaboration of local administration.
Most of the displaced people begun panicking after heavy showers continued nonstop for more than 48 Hours then on Thursday morning people fled their homes in the lower lands to the safety of highland areas after being evacuated by a joint team of local Sahil administration staff and local volunteers who provided support in form of transporting the displaced to safety an act which saved lives by preventing the loss of lives.
Somaliland is only now recovery from a devastating cyclone which made landfall last week with the scope of the damage in terms of lives, property caused by storm still not known yet.
