Hargeisa deputy mayor, Abdiasis Mohamed Hashi “Agaweyne” has toured Birmingham while he is on official working visit to the UK after receiving a formal invitation from Bristol mayor.
The visit of Hargeisa deputy mayor paid to Birmingham is part of tour where the mayor from Somaliland met with mayors of Sheffeild and Bristol.
The mayor received warm welcome from West Midlands where its capital is Birmingham.
He was saluted at the front gate of Town Hall by UK military personnels.
Hargeisa deputy mayor, Agaweyne met with mayor of Birmingham Councilor Raymond Hassall who he has an appointment.
Somaliland diaspora community who organized the two mayors to get together were in attendance at the talks.
Birmigham mayor, Councillor Ray Hassall (Lib Dem, Perry Barr) promised deputy mayor of Hargeisa to assist on health, water and electricity areas.
Birmingham mayor was briefed of the history of Somaliland and the peace, stability and ever lasting tranquility that it enjoyed over the past 24 years after it gained its lost independence from Somalia in 1991.
