Somaliland First lady Amina Waris Sheik Mahmoud Jirde currently accompanying President silanyo on a state visit to the Republic of Ireland met on Tuesday met with top representatives of the Irish based international charity group the Concern World-wide.
First Lady Amina waris was received by Mr. Dominic MacSorely the director of Concern World-wide during a courtesy call to the international charity group the headquarters.
During the meeting, Somaliland first lady and Concern World-wide officials discussed the ongoing projects implemented by international charity group which currently focus in the western part of the country (Gabiley Region), Concern’s programme in Gabiley region will continue to cover Gabiley, Arabsiyo and Wajale Districts. This is predominantly a development programme which aims to build resilience through integrating food, income and markets (FIM) and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) activities and working with extremely poor households. Concern also implements activities directly but in collaboration and with the support of Government Ministries, local authorities and members of the target communities through Somaliland special arrangement. The Somaliland Concern World-wide programme will also seek additional resources to address inequality and marginalisation in Daami, an urban settlement in Hargeisa city.
Lastly, Somaliland First lady Amina Waris and Concern World-wide officials discussed ways in which the Irish based international charity group would expand its current work to the eastern regions of the country and at the same time Amina Waris inviting the Irish government to join and scale up funding of the SDF.
The first lady was flanked by Hon Abdullah Mohamed Dahair Cukuse, the Minister of Information and National Guidance, Mr. Abdifatah Said Ahmed, Presidential advisor on local and International Non-Governmental Organizations and Mr. Khadar Ali Gaas , Presidential adviser on media Affairs.
