Somaliland President, Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo leading a high level delegation flies to Ireland on Sunday morning while the president is due to make a short stopover at Dubai.
President Silanyo met with his predecessor Mr. Dahir Rayale at the VIP room while the two were expecting to board a flight to Dubai. Former Somaliland president Hon. Dahir was accompanied by the former first lady Ms. Huda Barkhad Adan and were en route to Dubai.
The president spoke to the press before boarding the plane and told that he is embarking on an official visit to Ireland after having received a formal invitation from the leaders of the country. Mr. Silanyo went on to say that he will hold talks with the president of Ireland and senior government officials of Ireland.
He commented that the discussion will focus on Somaliland’s quest for an international recognition and to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between Ireland and Somaliland. He talked about that he will explain to Ireland leaders on Somaliland’s case for statehood.
The president has added that he will appeal to the leaders that he will meet with to assist Somaliland on the areas of development. He further said that this is one of the foreign visits that he used to travel to the world to convince Somalilad’s case and what it deserves. He urged all citizens to keep peace and stability.
The president is accompanied by the First Lady, Presidential affairs minister, president’s special secretary, and Mr. Munir Ahmed Egal who works for Somaliland National Television.
