Kenya: Somalia Wall Plan Goes On

Date:

DEFENCE Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo yesterday said plans to construct a wall between Kenya and Somali will go on despite resistance from Somali.

Omamo said the wall is part of the government’s initiative to stop external threats.

She was speaking at the opening of the national security sector consultative forum in Mombasa town.

Parliamentary Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations chairman Gethinji Ndung’u said: “The issue of securing the border of any country is not a matter of consultation; it is a mandate of the executive.”
