The Country gave late Hussein Mahmud Awale ‘Gamode’ere’ state honours during burial at the Nasa Hablood cemeteryin Hargeisa.
Leading citizens at the grave was the president of Somaliland Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo accompanied by a large entourage that included political leaders from ruling and opposition parties, government officials, traditional and religious leaders as well as ordinary citizens.
The late Gamode’ere who was a large livestock export trader operating out of Hargeisa died from a hail of bullets fired by a police officer at a checkpoint at Qoton centre while in the convoy of the Somaliland health minister Dry Suleiman Isse Ahmed ‘Haqlatosie’ on an official working tour of Dadmadeed (Odweine) region.
According to unverified reports the police officer responsible for his killing will be arraigned in court on Thursday 25th March in Hargeisa where the death sentence is expected to be passed with immediate fulfillment on the same day.
