The Government and people of Somaliland highly appreciate the continued warm hand of friendship extended by Djibouti.
The thanks were issued by the Somaliland Diplomatic representative to Djibouti Abdifatah Said Ahmed, during a press briefing in the neighbouring country in which he also said the recent meeting between President Ismail Omar Guelleh and a visiting delegation o Somaliland ministers was very fruitful.
In a brief of the content of the discussions between the two parties the diplomat said he was pleased to see Djibouti ministers and their Somaliland counterparts agree on greater facilitation of the movement of goods and people across the border, as well as of maritime safety in the Gulf of Aden.
Said he “The joint priorities will be realized, in accordance with the security requirements of the concerted response of the governments of the region against terrorism, maritime piracy and cross-border crime”

From the same meeting it was further raised the project to build a tarmac road from Loyada to Borama said Amb Abdifatah while also revealing the lifting of all administrative constraints at the crossing of the Loyada border crossing for Djibouti holiday-makers under the age of 15, the elderly or sick people traveling to Somaliland during the summer.
“Apart from these 3 categories of people, the other Djibouti summer visitors must have their travel documents”, Said the diplomat
Mr. Abdifatah Said Ahmed also expressed the wish of the authorities in Hargeisa to invite observers from Djibouti during the presidential electoral ballot that will take place on November 13 in Somaliland.
