The Chairman of Somaliland’s upper house told reporters on Thursday that Presidential elections slated for November will likely be postponed due to the deadly AWD outbreak in Somaliland’s eastern regions that has killed close to 100 people.
Suleiman Mohamud Adam, Chairman of Somaliland’s House of Elders, known locally as the ‘Guurti’, says all efforts should be focused on containing the virus and treating victims.
Adam told reporters outside the parliament that elections can only be held only if the health situation in Somaliland’s eastern regions gets better.
