Somaliland: President Silanyo calls on Somalilanders to collect their voter ID cards

Date:

The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud Silanyo called on the citizens of Somaliland to collect their voter ID cards, and to continue to take part in national drought relief efforts in a video message on Thursday.

The voter ID distribution process is another great milestone for Somaliland’s democratization process. That being said, I am calling on the people of Somaliland to take on the great responsibility of making sure their fellow citizens collect their voter ID card.

We closely following all the latest developments on the drought and are doing our best to aid Somalilanders suffering from the crisis. We are also praying that Almighty Allah will put an end to the drought.

I am optimistic that our people and country will be able to manage national drought relief efforts and the voter ID card distribution simultaneously.

My government remains committed to holding Presidential Elections on November 13th and we would like all Somalilanders to prepare for the occasion.

Finally, I would like to encourage the great people of Somaliland to continue to protect our peace and national development efforts and to contribute to the national drought relief.
