His Excellency the President of the Republic of Somaliland appointed, Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud “Siilaanyo”, Sunday, the youngest ever member to join Somaliland’s ministerial cabinet as Vice Minister of Defense.
The President, following up on his vow to honor the young in Somaliland as responsible leaders in responsible positions, elevated a former member of the Erigavo Municipal Council, Sanag, Mohamoud Warsame Jama – a young man barely out of his teens, to a very senior ministerial position in the country’s defense.
Mohamoud, during his tenure as MP of Erigavo, has proven his mettle through his responsible approaches to matters of the region and the state showing through a promise in politics.
In a presidential decree # JSL/M/XERM/249-3945/042016 the Head of state, on Sunday, made changes to his council of ministers, the regional administration and the national Tender Committee.
Justifying his decree to powers vested in his office by Article 90 section 2 of the Somaliland constitution as well as the imperatives of a fully functioning public administration president Siilaanyo informed that as from today henceforth.

2. Boos Mire Mohamed who assumes duties as State minister of Finance
In regional administration and guided by stipulations of Article 90 Section 110 president Silanyo made the following changes
1. Governor of Daadmadeed Region Farhan Hasan Abdi
2. Governor of Selel Region Ahmed Mohamed Hashi and
3. Deputy Sahil Governor Mohamed Osman Ahmed ‘Indho-balac’
In the same decree and guided by Article 90 section 3 of the constitution president Siilaanyo appointed Ahmed Hashi Ali to the board of the Somaliland national tender.
To accommodate Boos Mire to the office of State minister for finance president Siilaanyo fired former holder Dr Mohamed Farah Duale who was also acknowledged for rendered to the nation.
While the presidential decree takes effect immediately it is worth mentioning that the incoming deputy defense minister and now ex Erigavo Councilor Mohmoud Warsame Jama was the youngest person to have contested and won an elective seat in the country.
