Somaliland: President Silanyo set to visit Sahil province

Date:

Somaliland Head of State, Ahmed M. Silanyo is due to travel to Sahil region on working visit according to reliable sources close to the office of the president.

The mission of the visit that the president is to embark is to add his political leverage to the ongoing outcry in the wake of the plotted assassination of Berbera police chief.

A group of young armed men carried out timely, organized and well coordinated ambush and killed Sahil’s provincial police chief, the late Asayr who was laid to rest on Friday in Berbera.

The president set to attend a ceremony that the National Election Commission (NEC) set to hold in Berbera and which will mark the official kick off of the voter registration exercise in Sahil, Gabiley and Hawd regions.

On the other hand, president Silanyo has sacked deputy Hawd regional governor and relieved from all his duties although the firing was not confirmed from the office of the president and a press release was not issued.

Mr. Warsame Faarah was dismissed and a replacement was named after his unexpected sacking.
