President of the republic of Somaliland His Excellency, Ahmed M. Silanyo issued a decree # JSL/M/MG/083-3825/022016 on Saturday appointing National committee tasked to drought relief efforts in Somaliland.
The national committee is headed by Somaliland’s Vice President Hon. Abdirahman Zaylici.
Below is the full list of the committee members:
- Minister for religious endowment
- Minister for Finance
- Minister for Trade and Int’l investment
- Minister for Defense
- Secretary on cabinet ministers
- Chairman of Chamber of Commerce
The committee is tasked with provide strategies for relieving the drought which impacted most regions in Somaliland.
The international aid agencies are blamed for not responding to the dire drought which impacted on livestock herders in Somaliland.
Somaliland has faced the worst drought in decades where most of lost all their livestock due to the lackof rain and persisted drought in the country.
