Burco- The national voter’s registration process today officially began in the country with the process kicking off in Burao Togdheer region.
The process is vital for ensuring every citizen in the country is registered to vote at their current address in time for the next election due in April 2017
Residents of Togdheer region trickled to the 163 voter’s registration centers in the early morning to register themselves as voters on the first day. The Chairman of the National Electoral Commission Mr. Abdiqadir Iman speaking to BBC Somali Service said , “The voter’s registration process was going on well.
The Chairman of the National Electoral Commission Mr. Abdiqadir Iman recognized that voter registration is the foundation of our electoral process and its quality carries forth to successful elections.
The national voter’s registration process which begun today in Togdheer region is expected to last for a duration of one month in all six regions of the country.
Representatives of the three national political parties(UCID, KULMIYE &WADDANI) were at hand in almost all registration centers to witness ongoing process.
