Somaliland: President Silaanyo Lays Foundation Stone of Biggest Water Project in Humbo Weyne

President of the Republic of Somaliland His Excellency Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo has today laid the foundation stone of Humbo Weyne water dam project funded by the UAE.

The dam is to reserve up to 500, 000 Metric Cubic according to Hargeisa Water Agency manager.

The dam is to keep the running water from hills which used to go directly into the sea without the benefit of residents nearby. Now once the dam reserves the water then the farmers will benefit for irrigation and for other utilities.

On the other hand, it will provide water to the capital as part of bigger projects aimed at providing potable water to the parts of the capital which is yearning for safe drinking water. President Ahmed Silanyo has thanked the elders for the reception and support of his administration.

In addition, the president thanked the UAE government which funded the realization of water projects to be implemented in Humbo Weyne district. Mr. Silanyo has announced that the UAE government will make similar dam in Lasanod like the one in Humbo Weyne.
