State dispels rumours by refuting press allegations on port
The President of Somaliland H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Mohamud Silanyo came back to the city yesterday evening after a three day private weekend visit to the coastal city of Berbera.
At the same time the state has un-equivocally refuted press reports which alluded that the Head of State’s visit to the harbor town was in regards to allegations of handing over the port to a private entity.
While in Berbera the Presidential joined hundreds of Muslims for the Friday Khutba and prayers at the town Huda Mosque. This is not the first time that he has done this.
As confirms the Presidential spokesman Eng. Hussein Aden Egge, “the President is in a private visit to Berbera”.
He said that the sea-shore town in Sahil region is one of the most frequently visited by the Head of State.
The dispelled rumours by categorically refuting that the President tour was connected with the privatization of the ports services.
“I hereby make it quite clear that the local media allegations of handing over the port are baseless lies”, said the presidential spokesman.
The President who was thronged by huge crowds of Muslims congregation hence he greeted them while mixing with them cheerfully.
The crowds hailed him for his charismatic leadership and his down to earth pragmatism which always endeared him well with the members of the public.
He toured various places in the city and inspected some of the roads constructed.
“It is normally possible for the Head of State to confer with local leaders even while in a private tour”, said Eng. Hussein.
The President left for Berbera on Thursday accompanied by the First Lady Amina Haji Mohamoud Jirde and the Presidential Spokesman.
