Somaliland: Gov’t arrest a traditional chief who was against the transfer of Berbera Oil Terminal

Police arrested yesterday ( 17 September) Mr. Sultan Mowlid Sabayse who is among the traditional chiefs in Somaliland.

He was arrested after Rapid Response Unit (RRU) stormed into a house where traditional leaders that hail from communities in Hargeisa that reside in the west and north of the city. They had a meeting in progress once the RRU stormed and put the Sultan behind bars.

Somaliland deputy Minister of interior in charge of security speaking to the media has confirmed the operation launched by police which resulted the detention of the Sulatn.

The Minister has accused of instigating civil unrest which as he said will have a negative impact on national security as he termed.

He added that was among the chiefs who was urging people to go against the government which undermines national security.

Sultan Mowlid was among one of the traditional leaders that scathingly criticized the government intention  to transfer Berbera Oil Terminal and the brawl between speakers of Somaliland house of National Assembly.
