Somaliland: Government meets Khatumo Politicians in Ethiopia

Somaliland authority is reported to have held a high level meeting with Mr. Ali Isse Abdi, a politician who is a member of an outlawed Khatumo insurgency groups that fights for the emancipation of eastern regions in Somaliland.

Somaliland Representatives who met with Ali has called on the group to put down the arms and come to the table to start directs talks instead of using the barrel of the gun.

Mr. Ali is staunch and close ally of Ali Khalif Galeyr, Khatumo leader who was a former Somali Prime Minister and current Somali parliamentarian.

The meeting took place in Addis Ababa following a high level SL delegations headed by SL Deputy President was there for talks with Ethiopian gov’t over the Berbera realization corridor.

SL VP Hon. Abdirahman Saylici met Mr. Ali Isse in Addis Ababa while he made a short stopover to Addis on his route to the US.

Somaliland has previously announced that it wants to hold direct talks with the group to bring the hostility in the region to an end.
