Somaliland: “Am a Politically Impartial Statesman” Ex President Rayale

The opposing political opinions have been urged to work in concert as it relates to the being of the country.

The urgings were made by the immediate past president of Somaliland Dahir Rayale Kahin during a luncheon hosted in his honour by opposition party UCID in Hargeisa where he also reaffirmed his impartiality as relates to the three national political parties of UCID, Wadani and Kulmiye.

“Being firmly committed to the sovereignty of Somaliland I will not join any political party but will be always available for advice to those in the opposition and ruling “said Rayale adding that he shall not hesitate to avail his services to the president as well.

Dahir Rayale who presided over the country’s affairs for eight years and is credited with institutionalizing the country’s democratization process relinquished office peacefully after defeat by incumbent president Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo during 2010 presidential elections.

Immediately after handing over to his predecessor Dahir Rayale left for France where he has resided since with a hiatus back home now and then either to try salvaging his UDUB political party now defunct or for visits withfamily and Somalilanders at large.

At the UCID luncheon Rayale who thanked the party for honouring him while informing that political issues were not on the menu also took the opportunity to reveal that UDUB the oldest political party in the country shall revive sooner rather than later.

UDUB was proscribed by the government after it allegedly flouted soon political party rules that were as a result of protracted leadership wrangles and presidential aspirations of Mohamed Ali Waran”ade currently the interior minister in the Kulmiye administration and Jamal Ali Hussein the UCID party presidential candidate.

If Ever I aspire to reoccupy the presidency I shall do so under sponsorship of UDUB” said Dahir Rayale Kahin as he concluded his address with prayers for peace in the country and international recognition while terming current election dates dispute as one unworthy of this nation.

The UCID luncheon comes in the heels of a similar one hosted by Wadani party in Hargeisa where a large cadre of senior operatives under the Rayale and UDUB administration participated.
