Somalia on Friday conducted a series of celebrations to commemorate its annual Youth Day.
In Mogadishu, where the biggest ceremony was held, Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud marched on the streets with hundreds of residents.
With colourful choreographic movements, the majority of the crowd who were young people marched-past carrying placards and banners portraying messages of patriotism.
Youth Day is celebrated on May 15 every year to recognize the role of the Somali Youth league that played a key role in road to Independence in 1960 from the colonialists.
The President laid wreath at the SYL monument memorial, calling on the youth to unite and play a role in the country’s development.
He added that his government will strive to improve the lives of the ordinary youth in the country.
