Somaliland: President Silanyo Names Three Ministers and a New Central Bank Governor

The President H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Mohamud Silanyo has appointed Prof. Farah Elmi Geedoole as the new education minister and elevated Gebiley Mayor Shuaib to become the new minister of industry.

In an appointments’ decree the Head of State released last night as we went to press, Hon. Mohamed Aw Dahir Ibrahim replaces Professor Geedoole at the Agricultural portfolio and central bank governor Mr. Abdi Dirir Abdi loses his post.

Also replaced are the director general of the health ministry and the deputy governor of Hawd region.
Similarly, two ministers of state have been appointed.

Prof. Farah Elmi Mohamud Geedoole – Ministry of Education and higher education Previously was minister of agriculture
Shuaib Mohammed Muse – Minister of Factories (ex mayor of Gebiley)
Mohammed Aw Dahir Ibrahim – Minister of Agriculture
Mohammed Farah Duale – State Minister of Minerals and
Central bank governor Abdillahi H. Jama Ali
Director General Ministry of Health Yusuf Ahmed Ali
Deputy Regional Governor of Hawd Warsame Farah Ibrahim
Deputy Manager Hargeisa Water Agency- Mr. Osman Abdillahi Hirad
