Members of Somaliland’s cabinet yesterday held a meeting with a delegation from the British Parliament in Hargeisa on Tuesday.
The House of Commons chair for foreign affairs MP Alicia Kearns led the delegation which included MP Rushanara Ali.
The ministers who held the meeting were the Interior Minister Hon. Mohamed Kahin Ahmed, the Minister of Defense Hon. Abdiqani Mohamud Aateye Farid, and the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Hon. Shukri Haji Ismail Bandare.
They recollected the traditional long standing relationship between Somaliland and Britain and discussed the ways and means of further bolstering and strengthening it.
The Minister of the Interior of Somaliland briefed the UK guests on the general security situation in Somaliland, which stands on strong pillars hence is of great importance to the peaceful stability of the Horn of Africa.
Elections, democracy, climate change and the strengthening of the relations between the two countries were mainly focused on in their meeting.
The Director General of the Ministry of Interior, Mohamed Yusuf Ismail, and other officials from were also present in the meeting.
