Somaliland: Ship carrying new Mobile Harbour Cranes docks in Berbera Port

A Large Ship carrying three Mobile Harbour Cranes (MHCs) on Tuesday docked at the newly constructed Berbera port containers terminal .

The captain of the ship and representative of the company that owns the ship carrying the new equipment cranes said that the new arrived equipment was essential for the rapid handling of general and bulk cargoes at the DP World port.

Mr. Said Hassan Abdillahi, the managing director of Somaliland Ports, said that the ship docked at the newly constructed piers, and that the new equipment offer shoreside crane support, substantially improving vessel operations. They will enable more ships to be served and ultimately increase the flow of trade to both the country and the region. As construction work for the expansion of the port progresses.

Lastly, Mr. Said Abdillahi thanked everyone involved in the development of Somaliland Ports.

Mr. Mohamud Ahmed Abdillahi , the regional governor, Hon. Abdishakur Mohamud Hassan (Ciddin), the Mayor of the port city Berbera and the District Secretary and Mr. Fuad Aden Adde, present to witness the arrival of latest said that the new cranes will double productivity at the port, will play an important role in Berbera Port’s expansion scheme.
