The Somaliland National Electoral Commission is holding a training course for 150 students at the University of Hargeisa, the students will be employed to disseminated voter cards in centers ahead of the upcoming elections which will soon begin in the country.
The National Electoral Commission (NEC) is in the process of preparing for the upcoming by-elections in the House of Representatives and Constituencies of the Republic of Somaliland, which will take place on May 31, 2021.National Election Commission (NEC), is to commence the first phase of distribution of voters cards in Sanaag, Sool, and Sahil provinces. The exercise will commence on March 11th.
This was disclosed by NEC Chairperson, Abdirashid Riyo-Raac during the launch of a seminar held for 150 students who will be operational designated centers to distribute voter cards. The Commission also announced that second phase of voter cards distribution will commence in Marodi Jeh, Awdal and Togder provinces. NEC is gearing up to hold parliamentary and city council polls which is scheduled to happen in SL on 31st May, 2021.
The Electoral Commission will soon begin implementing the Card Distribution Phase, followed by Voter Registration, Card / District-Election Procedures, Implementation of the Media Code of Conduct During the Elections, Compliance with Law No. 91/2020 and the Approval of National Party Regulations and Procedures relating to the Selection of their Candidates and Ensuring the Requirements Obligatory by the Law – these and many others have all been successfully completed with the NEC gaining the support of all Electoral Stakeholders including the political parties, civil society, the government, the national media, the honorable people of the Republic of Somaliland, the international community and the friends of Somaliland.
