The presidents reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to deepen the cordial relations between Kenya and Somaliland
THT- The governments of Kenya and Somaliland have agreed to enhance bilateral relations in various sectors. Especially direct flights between Hargeisa and Nairobi.
Also in the works is elevation to a full diplomatic mission of the Somaliland Trade office in Nairobi and the establishment of a Kenyan Consulate in Hargeisa, both latest March 2021.
This is per a joint communique issued by Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta and Somaliland’s President Muse Bihi following their meeting at State House Nairobi on 15th December 2020.
The presidents directed their respective senior officials to work together in the formulation of a general framework agreement to
I. Deepen existing cordial people-to-people relations
II. Promote and diversify Trade and Investment
III. Enhancing security cooperation and information sharing to combat terrorism, cybercrimes and organized transnational crimes.
IV. Enhance cooperation in various sectors including Agriculture, Education, Livestock Development, Energy and Transport and
V. Promote Training and Capacity building
