THT-The Council of Cabinet ministers has availed the 2021 national budget.
While chairing the 67th cabinet session through virtual means, the President H.E. Musa Bihi Abdi listened to the Deputy Finance Minister Hon Musa Ibrahim Yusuf (Selef) disclose that 2021 budget would be 2.7% higher than the previous one.
Also pointed out was the fact that the Covid-19 pandemic, the locust invasion and the lack of livestock export due to the closure of the annual Pilgrimage to Mecca played a major role in handicapping the economy this year.
The finance ministry however noted that the positive manner in which the citizenry paid taxes went a long way in off-setting much burden on the economy.
On the other hand the council of the minister heard the health minister decried the second wave of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic sweeping the country hence urged the preventive and prophylactic measures put in place to be up-held and adhered to even more .
On the general security status in the nation, the deputy Interior Minister Hon Nassir Aideed gave a brief.
It is after thus that the ministers started delving upon the details of what the national budget entailed.
