THT- The governments of Somaliland and Taiwan are in pursuit avenues of utilizing the port of Berbera as the main conduit of trade between the two countries.
Thus was revealed during a tour of the port by a Taiwanese delegation led by envoy to Somaliland Ambassador Allen C Lou in which they were hosted by a team led by the facility’s manager Eng. Saeed Hasan Abdilahi
According to a report by Arabsiyo news Officials from both sides discussed a number of issues related to trade cooperation and the use of the Berbera International Port by companies and businesses in Taiwan who are said to be ready for investing in Somaliland
After a warm welcomed and guided tour the Taiwanese delegation was briefed on the wide range of services provided by the Port and its commitment to being an export and import bridge between the region and rest of the world, especially Taiwan, which has recently become a major hub trade with Somaliland.
in a post meeting presser the port Manager Saeed Hassan Abdillahi said: “We had an important meeting this morning at the Berbera International Port with the a Taiwanese delegation led by Ambassador Allen C.Lou in which we discussed the beginning of a partnership between Taiwan Ports and local Ports” adding that also touched upon was how Taiwanese-based shipping companies can use the Berbera port.
Taiwan and Somaliland established full diplomatic links earlier in the year that saw the two countries exchange ambassadors.
