Somalia: President Farmajo announces major security reshuffle

Date:

President Farmajo has announced a major shake-up to the security sector on Thursday with changes made to the Villa Somalia, SNA, Somali Police Force.

The major development of Thursday’s reshuffle is undoubtedly  Fahad Yasin’s – political insider and right-hand-man to President Farmajo – move from his post as the Director General of Villa Somalia to the Deputy of NISA. Replacing him in Villa Somalia will be Amina Said Ali.

Abdalla Mohamed Abdalla and Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur have both been sacked from their posts as deputy spy chiefs.

General Dahir Adan Elmi better known as Indha Qarshe has been appointed as the Commander of the Somali National Army by President Farmajo.

General Indha Qarshe will be replacing General Abdiweli Jama Gorod as the SNA Commander.

Gen. Indha Qarshe is a career soldier who fought on the Qabri Dahare front during the Ogaden campaign in the late 1970’s. More recently, he served as the commander of the Somali National Army from March 2013 to June 2014 under the Hassan Sheikh Mohamud administration.

Colonel Zakia Hussein Ahmed was promoted to the rank of General and was also named the Deputy Commander of the Somali Police Force. She is the first female to be named to this post.
