Somali Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into the rendition of ONLF commander Abdikarim Muse Qalbi Dhagah will submit its findings to the Parliament on Saturday.
Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) in September extradited Qalbi Dhagah, a highly decorated former Somali military officer to Ethipian regime, a move initially denied and dismissed by Somali government.
The report of the commission is expected to shed light on wide range issues including the legality of the rendition, the position of Somali government in matter of dealing with ONLF’s recognition and among others.
The commission was suppose to hand in their findings on 10th October but requested more time to complete the investigation.
The 15 member committee was formed mid September to probe the circumstances under which Qalbi Dhagax, was handed over Ethioipia following a heated debate over extradition in House.
Qalbi Dhagah, a senior leader of Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) was wounded in 1977 war against Ethiopia.
The government of Ethiopia confirmed the handing over, citing a security partnership treaty between Addis Ababa and Mogadishu.
Immediately the move led public uproar, the government of Sommalia subsequently moved to declare him as a terrorist in the same rank with Alshabaab militants.
