Worcester native and Worcester Academy graduate Jonathan Starr invested in an African boarding school after a short career in hedge fund investment. He put everything into the Somaliland project, and stuck with it despite some tough, even dangerous local opposition in the first years. Now, the school sends graduates to universities and colleges far from home. Its success has been profiled on “60 Minutes” and in other news outlets. He’s written the story of Abaarso School in “It Takes a School,” and he’ll read from the new book Saturday in Westboro. Starr also hopes to be joined by one or two of the students from the school.
