A car bomb believed to be detonated by a suicide bomber went off near a popular restaurant and hotel in Mogadishu on Friday killing one person and wounding five others, according to local witnesses.
The blast occurred on a busy street outside Central Hotel and Banooda restaurant. The explosion happened within walking distance to the presidential palace.
There is no official claim of responsibility but the militant extremist group Al-Shabaab has been behind most car bomb attacks in Somalia.
Earlier this week, a car bomb explosion at a checkpoint in Mogadishu killed 6 people and wounded scores more.
