A Workshop on the development of the Somali Police Force Basic Recruit Curriculum was hosted by EUCAP Nestor in Mogadishu on January 22nd and 23rd.
The event was organized in cooperation with the Somali Police Force (SPF), the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) the United Nation Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the United Nation Development Program (UNDP) and the African Union Mission in Somalia(AMISOM).
Somali police officers from both the federal level and regions attended the workshop. The workshop aimed at validating the modules that need to be included in the Basic Recruit Curriculum and to identify sources of information for module materials.
The Somali Federal Police will benefit from this unified curriculum for the basic training of police recruits, as this key instrument will ensure its future police officers will go through well designed and comprehensive police training. Future work will look at specialist modules including modules for maritime police.
