Sool region remains peaceful despite the attempt on the life of a prominent businessman in Las Anod town. According to the regional governor Mustafa Abdi Shine, the security situation in the Somaliland eastern region remains stable and the attempt on the life of the regional traders association chairperson Abdirizaq Ahmed Warsame ‘Dabayo’ in Las Anod town the regional capital on the 28th July 2016. The local businessman who also doubles as the Sool regional manager of Telesom company is recuperating at a hospital in Hargeisa as a result of injuries he sustained when a number of masked gunmem shot him. Several times as he left a mosque upon performing Maghrib (evening) prayers on the fateful day. Speaking to Dawan Media governor Shine revealed that police in Las Anod are investigation the attempted murder and that a number of suspected perpetrators are in custody. Sool region is slowly turning to life with infusion of public related services that ha e been made possible courtesy of a rapport between the government of Somaliland and resident clans.
