The military jets of Kenyan defense forces (KDF) launched an overnight airstrike on a village near Kismayo which is controlled by the Al Qaeda-affiliated group of Al shabaab, residents said.
The KDF warplanes hit Berhani, an Alshabaab area that lies approximately 60 kilometers north of the port town of Kismayo, the seat of the interim Jubbaland administration.
Residents say they heard loud explosions after jets fired several missiles on Barhani, targeting Al shabaab camps. Casualties of the aerial attack were not immediately established.
Al shabaab did not comment on KDF air raid against it base near Kismayo. Kenyan troops are serving under the banner of African Union mission in Somalia (AMISOM).
