Somaliland: Minister Zamzam Submits 2016 Budget to parliament

Ms. Zamzam Abdi Adan, Somaliland’s finance minister on Saturday on the authority of President of President Ahmed Silanyo, moved Parliament to approve the budget for 2016. Presenting the Budget Statement for the year 2016 in accordance with Somaliland Constitution, Zamzam noted that under the leadership of President Silanyo has been working tirelessly to transform the economy.

Ms. Zamzam has announced that the 2016 national budget has reached a figure which is up to 295 million US dollars. He firmly stated that the government has not increased the tax but reformed its collection taxes manners.She revealed that part of the budget is about 5 million dollars that the gov’t signed with the World Bank and 7.2 million dollars from the UK.

She stressed that part of the budget will be spent on the creation of recreational centers for the youth in Somaliland.

The development of Somaliland roads will be part of the national budget. 100 marine soldiers who would be part of Somaliland’s coast guards will be trained and armed. Ms. Zamzam has finally stated in parliament briefing that regional offices for the ministries were allotted to the budget.
