Reports say Muslim migrant was among 30 Ethiopians murdered in Libya
A Muslim man who was murdered by ISIS militants on the beach in Libya had given his life so as not to abandon a Christian friend, according to the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions.
MissionLine, the magazine of the institute, says the apparent sacrifice of Muslim migrant Jamal Rahman was reported by a militant of al-Shabab, the extremist group in Somalia. The news was subsequently picked up by the Vatican Insider.
The magazine suggested that Jamal offered himself as a hostage out of solidarity with a friend he was travelling with – and that he may have believed his presence in the group might have saved the others’ lives.
On Sunday ISIS released a video showing the murder of 30 Ethiopians on the beach in Libya.
