The Borama youth who were recently remanded in Mandera prison on charges of breach of public peace were released yesterday by the state.
The almost a dozen and a half young men were driven from the jail to Hargeisa and thence treated to state executive warm sendoff to their homes in Borama, graced by the VP H.E. Abdirahman Seili’i.
The executive gesture was further markedly profound when the youth were transported in a convoy led by Interior Minister Hon. Ali Mohammed Waran-adde and accompanied by Posts and Telecommunications minister Hon. Mohammed Jama Abgaal amongst other senior state officials.
The youth were arrested at a time, when the region was tensely immersed in a political crisis following rogue Sultan Wabar’s denunciation of SL’s territorial integrity.
Two Borama local municipal councilors were arrested with the youth in a demo that rocked regional headquarters in support of the traditional leaders.
