Somaliland: Ministry of Health recieves first consignment of COVID-19 vaccines

A plane carrying a consignment of the Covid-19 vaccine arrived in the country yesterday(Tuesday) from Nairobi, Kenyan Capital.

The consignment of COVAX vaccine, which will be the first of its kind to reach the Republic of Somaliland, was received by the Ministry of Health.

Dr. Mohamed Abdi Hergeye, the Director General of the Ministry of Health Development speaking to reporters said,  “Today we received the Covid-19 vaccine directly from Nairobi, Kenya.

Dr. Mohamed Abdi Hergeye added that health workers will be the first receive the COVAX vaccines since they are on the frontline in the fight against the killer disease.

I urge the general public to get immunized, the ministry has prepared a comprehensive plan that we will share with the public, we are training staff, and then we will start the vaccination campaign  to take full advantage of this vaccine.

The Ministry of Health plans to vaccinated more than 65000 people across the country.
